Editorial Review:

Product Description:

Skinny Bitch created a movement when it exposed the horrors of the food industry, while inspiring people across the world to stop eating “crap.” Now the “Bitches” are back—this time with a book geared to pregnant women. And just because their audience is in a “delicate condition” doesn’t mean they’ll deliver a gentle message. As they did with Skinny Bitch, Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin expose the truth about the food we eat—with its hormones, chemicals, and other funky stuff. But even though they are “Skinny,” they want women to chow down on the right foods and gain their fair share of weight through their pregnancies.

They also won’t mince words on these topics:
• the best foods for a healthy baby and mommy
• the dangers of common lotions, creams, and beauty products that women slather on their bodies (many contain carcinogens)
• why every mother should “suck it up” and breastfeed
• the lowdown on what really happens “post-push” (after birth)
• how the companies we trust don’t care about children (choosing baby food and other products carefully)

With the same sassy tone that made Skinny Bitch laugh-out-loud funny, Skinny Bitch: Bun in the Oven will give expectant moms the information they need to “use their head” and have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Horrible.
Everyone pretty much summed up my feelings in all of the reviews. I just want to add my one star.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Very Misleading
This is my first time ever writing a review but I was so upset by the deception of these authors I wanted others to be informed before purchasing it. I guess the authors think its okay because they state in the book that the title is a marketing ploy. So right there, they admit to intentionally misleading people to get people to buy the book. That is wrong and detracts from their credibility. I will never buy anything either of them writes, nor would I buy something from any other author I felt deceived ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I might be missing the point
It is not a poorly wirtten book but I can see where some might be turned off by the tone and the sarcasm. Pregnant women are not a bunhc of angry woment hat can't stand their husbands and I think that many pregnancy books try to exploit this. This would be a book better suited to the vegan or the activist because I think that is the tone that has been set. That being said I think it is what it set out to do, be entertaining. There are many entertaining books out there like Hands Off My Belly: The Pregnant ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - There are far better preggo books out there!
I was excited to read this book and was very disappointed with it, overall. For starters, I respect that both authors have studied and promote holistic health. I've studied my fair share on the topic as well and I agree with several pieces of information throughout the book--these ladies make many excellent (and factual) points about nutrition, how the average consumer in American society does not read product/ingredient labels before eating or drinking something, how we are overexposed to chemicals, etc. However, ... Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Disappointed!
I just read the book. If I had wanted a lecture on how to not drink or eat dairy or how animals were slaughtered I would have gone to the PETA website.
I was hoping it was going to be a funny light hearted approach to eating healthy while pregnant.
I would not recommend it to a friend. At least I paid 4 bucks for it instead of 14.95!
