Reading through the beach cupcake recipe and the froggy cupcake recipes made me cry. My "babies" are now in college, full-grown and the days of birthday parties for little ones will wait for the days of my grandkids. Irregardless of the flow and ebb of life, there is always a reason to make cupcakes and I think birthdays are perhaps one of the best reasons of all! What child or adult doesn't like to have a batch of specialty decorated cupcakes made in their honor? Hmmm....I think we all do.

It would delight and tickle my fancy, as my Grandmother used to say, to have a batch made up for me as a surprise. And just wait til you get a look at these. Your kids, office workers or child's teacher will be delighted when you walk in the door with any of these. One thing that brightens up food presentation is color! And these cupcakes have plenty of that. So enjoy, and keep the stove light on...for baking, that is.

Some of my favorite photographs of my kids are the times they are standing in the kitchen with icing all over their faces grinning from ear to ear. Memories....sing it with me...memories. And they remember it too. There is just something about getting in the kitchen together that creates something warm inside and in your oven too. When the last cupcake is eaten, you will still have the memory left of the LOOK on their faces (your kids or your office co-workers) when you walk in with the Caterpillar cupcakes, the Castaway Cupcakes, the Smiley Face Cupcakes if your office staff is down, or the Day at the Beach cupcakes, (can't you just hear those seagulls and feel the ocean seaspray on your face) (smile). They'll think you are a baking genius! You get the picture...now pick one, bake one recipe and watch the magic happen!
